Actually for the first seven minutes or so, I sympathized with the US immigration officers over the Canadian driver.. The driver was being a jerk. Then the officers pulled out that BS about his making a “threat” – there certaintly didn’t appear to be any “threat” on that audio tape. Then later the office supervisorr claimed that the driver pulling away from an officer who grabbed him was “assault.” Wow, that guy needs to go back for more training since he apparently doesn’t know what an “assualt” is.
This tape should be used to train officers on how not to do your job. They went out and escalated a situation that could have been easily diffused.
The officer is actually right about terrrorists coming over the Canadian border. The 9/11 report said that the trheat of terrorists coming into this country is much greater over the Canadian than the Mexican border.
The guy WAS being somewhat of a jerk but he WAS getting some bizarre questions, such as the one about ‘which store.’ He’s purportedly been through similar episodes with them, hence the recorder, I supposr. Maybe he was trying to get ‘good’ audio and that’s why he was being short with the agent. We don’t know. However the agent really didn’t handle the situation appropriately, as you point out.
I doubt any real-threat terrorist is going to waltz through there, let alone raise any kind of a hissy fit. For the guard to go drill-sergeant on the guy was just wrong. Unless he was hoping to catch the guy off guard and elicit some spontaneous Arabic cursing.
wow that is just crazy lol.. the usa is all at fault when have you known what stores your going to when your on a small or long vacation my guess is NOBODY!!!!! yeppie
