The City Council was supposed to take their “confidence vote” tonight. That’s now been put off until May 16th. So The Doctor has 4 weeks to drum up some confidence.

Somehow.

Somewhere.

And Mayor Ballard has 4 weeks to put together a face-saving rationale for telling Straub to cop a walk. One that doesn’t make his 2010 appointment look completely like a completely boneheaded one. Marines are trained for tough duty, right? Time to get tough, Marine.

OK, so Straub’s gruff. He’s aggressive. He’s blunt. He ruffles feathers. He’s not here to be popular.

But he’s not here to be Captain Titanic and swap deck chairs every few weeks, either. Face it, he’s just not doing us any good. Time to move on. He’s had two years to ‘fix’ (his word) the problems in IMPD and it’s only gotten worse. He must shop for excuses at the same place President Obama does.
